Jenna Jameson loses ability to walk, diagnosed with Guillain-Barré syndrome
Jenna Jameson is in the hospital and unable to walk after being diagnosed with Guillain-Barré syndrome.
Over the weekend, Jameson’s partner, Lior Bitton — with whom she shares 4-year-old daughter Batel Lu — revealed on Instagramthat she was in the hospital undergoing tests after “not feeling so good.”
The ex-porn star had been throwing up for two weeks before going to the hospital last week, only to be sent home, Bitton explained.
“Then she came back home and she couldn’t carry herself,” Bitton said in a video on Saturday. “Her muscles in her legs were very weak. So she wasn’t able to walk to the bathroom. She was falling on the way back or to the bathroom, I would have to pick her up and carry her to bed. And then within two days, it got really not so good, her legs started to not hold her, she wasn’t able to walk.”
The Israeli businessman took Jameson back to a hospital where more testing occurred and it was determined that she was suffering from Guillain-Barré Syndrome.
According to the CDC, it is a “rare, autoimmune disorder in which a person’s own immune system damages the nerves, causing muscle weakness and sometimes paralysis.” The symptoms can last from weeks to several years. Most fully recover but some have permanent nerve damage.
In an Instagram Story, Bitton announced that Jameson was being given a high dose of immunoglobulin therapy.
“She’s doing physical therapy to try and stand on her legs, but at the moment she cannot stand on her legs. They’re starting the treatment so they’ll see how it goes. So keep praying.”
On Monday, Jameson posted a videoconfirming her diagnosis, thanking fans for their good wishes before writing: “I did NOT get the jab or any jab. This is NOT a reaction to the jab. Thank you for your concern.” (Jameson has previously espoused anti-vaccine views on her social media.)
