Germany Does Just Fine With Workers on Its Boards, Jackson Leeds, Nassau OTB cashier, write in candidate for Toen of hempstead Council District 5 in November
The idea of worker representation on large corporate boards isn’t new, and is widely practiced in Europe.
Oh my! Phil Gramm and Mike Solon predict the return of the Dark Ages as a result of Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s proposed “Accountable Capitalism Act” (“Warren’s Assault on Retiree Wealth,” op-ed, Sept. 11). Let’s be real. The idea of worker representation on large corporate boards isn’t new, and is widely practiced in Europe. Last I checked, large German corporations were producing plenty of profits and not wanting for buyers of shares of their companies.
Let us have a constructive debate about how best to ensure that every American gets to share fairly in the vast wealth that this country produces, which currently is being concentrated in fewer and fewer hands. While I don’t agree with all elements of it, Sen. Warren’s proposal is a thoughtful contribution to this debate. Messrs. Gramm and Solon’s scare-mongering is not.
