Google will help New York fix unemployment claims system

State has received six times as many calls as at peak of 2008 Recession

ALBANY — With New York’s unemployment insurance system continuing to be overrun by newly jobless applicants, Google is coming to the rescue.
In addition to going from four to 50 web servers, and with another 300 people hired to take calls – atop the 700 brought in earlier – the state is working with Google to develop a new website with a better interface, Melissa DeRosa, secretary to Gov. Andrew Cuomo, said on Monday.
