NYRA employee charged with grand larceny at Saratoga

SARATOGA SPRINGS >> A pari-mutuel clerk for the New York Racing Association was arrested on Thursday, police say.
Vito Vivona, 49, was charged with third-degree grand larceny after the Saratoga Springs Police Department looked into a complaint from NYRA investigators on Monday.
The complaint accused Vivona of being “short” when he closed out at the end of the day on Sunday.
A joint investigation found Vivona to have been short $11,700 due to a number of bets he made while he worked on Sunday and was not able to cover that amount of money. The bets took place in just a four-hour period.
Vivona was arraigned and committed to Saratoga County Jail on Thursday.
