Dear jackson,
This holiday season, New Yorkers of all backgrounds, creeds and cultures will come together to celebrate and honor tradition — lighting the menorah for Hanukkah, displaying the Nativity scene at Christmas, and sipping from the family Unity Cup during Kwanzaa.
These shared customs serve to unite us within our own communities, as well as remind us of our collective humanity. The holidays are a time to share gifts of love, re-connect over savory meals, and revel in the joy of the season.
This year, it is especially important to pause and reflect on the universal themes of peace, hope and love — and let that message resonate louder than ever.
We come from many different cultures and religions but we are one community of New Yorkers. We see our diversity as a strength, not a weakness. As such, we must look out for one another and extend a helping hand to our neighbors in need.
In this season of giving, let us reflect on how we can best serve our communities and continue building a stronger, fairer New York for all.
Warm wishes for a happy holiday and a prosperous New Year.
Sincerely,
Governor Andrew M. Cuomo
