pick six results
A communication problem between the New York Racing Association and AmTote resulted in incorrect pick six information being announced several times late on the Friday card.
Racing analyst Andy Serling announced on-air following the eighth race of the nine-race program that there would be a $61,486 carryover into Saturday. A graphic on the simulcast feed stated the same information.
After the ninth race was run, announcer Frank Mirahmadi said the pick six paid $61,486. He then came back on-air and said that there would be a carryover. The graphic then reappeared.
Daily Racing Form also reported the carryover after NYRA's announcement.
Shortly thereafter, the NYRA press office reported the pick six had indeed been hit and that the lone winning ticket paid $61,486.
Consolation tickets with five winners, as correctly reported in the results, returned $951.
The breakdown in communication between NYRA and AmTote came because the winning ticket included Iwishirish in the ninth and final race. Iwishirish was a morning scratch from the race and all pick six tickets using her were moved to the favorite, who turned out to be eventual winner Woundwithhereyes.
NYRA put out a press release at 7:52 p.m. Friday night that said, “NYRA and AmTote are currently in the process of discussing alternative ways to broadcast Will Pays for multi-race wagers with scratched horses to alleviate situations such as these going forward.”
