Trump condemns New Zealand mosque attacks as ‘vicious act of hate’

One of the most anticipated dates on the Irish Racing calendar is the Fairyhouse Easter Festival. Running in 2019 from Sunday April 21st to Tuesday April 23rd, the Festival has been the scene of some memorable ...

President Trump on Friday condemned the “horrible massacre” at two New Zealand mosques, where at least 49 worshipers were slaughtered in what the White House called a “vicious act of hate.”
“My warmest sympathy and best wishes goes out to the people of New Zealand after the horrible massacre in the Mosques. 49 innocent people have so senselessly died, with so many more seriously injured,” the president tweeted about the carnage in Christchurch.
“The US stands by New Zealand for anything we can do. God bless all!”
In a separate statement, White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders said: “Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families. We stand in solidarity with the people of New Zealand and their government against this vicious act of hate.”
Meanwhile, Homeland Security chief Kirstjen Nielsen offered her condolences to the victims and their families as she decried the “act of terror.”
She tweeted that her department “stands with our friends in New Zealand and will provide any assistance they need.”
“There is no specific or credible threat to our homeland, but all Americans should remain vigilant so we can prevent such violent hate,” she added
New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern called the attack “an extraordinary and unprecedented act of violence.”
A 28-year-old man has been charged with murder and three other people also have been arrested.
Multiple media outlets identified the suspect as Brenton Tarrant, an Australian national who livestreamed the attack and posted a lengthy screed in which he described himself and what motivated him.
