The estranged wife of former U.S. Sen. Al D’Amato’s accused the powerful pol Tuesday of racketeering and influence peddling in the latest twist in their long-running, vicious custody battle over two kids.
Katuria D’Amato’s 78-page lawsuit filed in Brooklyn Federal Court seeks $100 million from D’Amato and his alleged enablers in Long Island.

She says that her ex – who was known as Senator Pothole – has used his political connections to gain an advantage in their custody battle and divorce.
“What is happening in the Nassau matrimonial case is a total disgrace. My husband and his lawyers have lied to the court, damaging my children and myself,” Katuria D’Amato, 52, said.

A spokesman for Al D’Amato, 81, denied the allegations.
“Even a cursory review of the litigation will reveal that the allegations are simply preposterous. They are without merit, substance or even a remote connection to the question of child custody,” the spokesman said.
Katuria and Al’s split became a nasty public feud in 2017 when the senator-turned-lobbyist won emergency custody of their 9-year-old daughter and 10-year-old son, arguing that his wife was mentally unstable. Court hearings focused on a bizarre episode in which cops responding to a call at the D’Amatos’ Lido Beach home detained Katuria after she claimed people planted secret listening devices and were shining green lasers through her windows, according to testimony. She kept a shotgun at the house. Katuria subsequently released a disturbing video of Al D’Amato yelling at her in a hospital bed. She said the footage showed his true nature.
The divorce and custody dispute has gotten so contentious that a Nassau County judge ordered Katuria D’Amato’s attorney, Tom Liotti, be removed from those cases last year. The new federal lawsuit, filed by Liotti, names the judge as one of many defendants.
The lawyer said he filed the case in Brooklyn because the federal courthouse in Central Islip is named after Al D’Amato.
“(The case) may have to be moved out of the state entirely,” Liotti said. “Mr. D’Amato’s corrupting influence extends far and wide.”
