I’ve said it before, jackson: Health care is a human right, not a luxury.
Yet the frightening proposal by the Republican Congress places health care for more than one million New Yorkers in jeopardy and would cost state taxpayers $4.5 billion over the next 4 years. They’re trying to make it harder for New Yorkers to get access to health care -- while charging more for less and slashing taxes for the wealthy.
We can’t stand idly by as our health care system is under assault. As New Yorkers, we need to defend our values and protect access to quality, affordable health care.
Don’t let the progress we’ve made improving health care be undone. New York's delegation needs to stand up and fight this regressive plan. Sign the petition now >> Representatives in Washington need to know New Yorkers expect them to stand up and protect access to health care. Make sure your voice is heard.
If Congress forces through this progress reversing plan it will have a devastating effect on New York. Just look at what the consequences could mean for New Yorkers:
  • Weakening the Medicare system and increasing costs for people over 50
  • Defunding Planned Parenthood and restricting access to reproductive health services
  • Cutting home care and nursing home coverage for millions of seniors
  • Raising the costs of coverage for lower-income New Yorkers
  • Hospital staffing and services cut
We can’t allow that to happen. New York’s entire Congressional delegation -- Democrats and Republicans -- need to block this out-of-touch attempt to take health care away from hardworking New York families. But they need to know New Yorkers are willing to fight to protect access to affordable care.
I promise you this: New York will do everything in its power to protect our health care system. Thank you for your support.
Ever upward.
Governor Andrew M. Cuomo
