i may give a donation in her memory to faustman but would never give to the smerican diabetes association

this is the opinion of a type one diabetic


her survivors might contemplate who among them and her blood relatives have an autoimmune disease



SOPHIA'S OBITUARY


Sophia Louise Daugherty, 10, of New Castle passed away on September 19, 2018 at UPMC Children's Hospital.
Born on November 2, 2007 in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of Ryan and Keri Daugherty. She was the sister of Claire Elise, 14, and Meredith Grace, 9.
Sophia was a Member of Victory Family Church where she was baptized.
Sweet Sophia had Type I Diabetes for three and half years after being diagnosed on January 21, 2015. She attended Camp Courage for children with Diabetes and wanted to be involved as a counselor in the future.
Sophia was a fifth grader at Laurel Elementary School where she had plans on joining the fifth grade chorus. She had a love for all animals, especially her two cats, "Pumpkin" and "Rosie". Sophia did not let her diagnosis stop her from enjoying life. She played softball, basketball, and was an active cheerleader. If she wasn't playing sports, you could find Sophia riding her bike and scooter or learning about sharks. One of the things she enjoyed most were sleepovers with her friends, especially her Best Friend Forever, Abi Kuth.
She was a Member of Girl Scouts and attended Seneca Hills Bible Camp.
In addition to her parents, Sophia is survived by her two sisters, Claire Elise and Meredith Grace Daugherty; grandparents, Tom and Linda Daugherty, Gary and Denise Scholze, Don and Lynn Visser; Aunts, Rachel and husband Roman Carloni, Sarah Visser and Uncles, Nathan and wife Monica Visser and Roman Visser. In addition to her Aunts and Uncles, Sophia leaves behind a large extended family.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September, 22 from 10:00 AM-3:00 PM at Calvary Independent Church, 424 E. Moody Avenue, New Castle. A Funeral Service will immediately follow visitation at 3:00 PM with Rev. Charles Fomebelle officiating.
Burial will be in Unity Baptist Cemetery.
