Vote no on the constitutional gambling

amendment. Andrew Cuomo is a fool to think that  people are so gullible. If he does not see that Nassau OTB is open every day of the year for the pleasure of bettors and so that the profits flow to the public, he does not give us much credit.

vote NO on the gambling amendment and reduce the pool of money available to be stolen by politicians et al.

From the Office of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo
Dear Fellow New Yorker,
Since taking office, Governor Cuomo has been committed to growing the economy while cutting taxes for middle class families and small businesses. Thanks to the Governor's reforms, middle class families in New York now pay the lowest tax rate in 62 years, and New York businesses will save nearly $800 million in tax relief over the next three years. In addition, the Governor’s groundbreaking initiative – START-UP NY – will create zero-tax communities on SUNY campuses to attract start-ups and new businesses to create jobs for our people.
In addition to the Governor’s ongoing efforts to streamline and improve New York’s tax code to make the state more affordable and competitive, the Governor announced the New York State Relief Commission today that will identify ways to reduce the State's property and business taxes. The new Tax Relief Commission includes two of our state's most respected leaders, former Governor Pataki and Comptroller Carl McCall, and will collaborate with the Tax Reform and Fairness Commission, launched last December.

The formation of the Tax Relief Commission is enabled by three years of fiscal integrity and responsible budgeting, including:
  • 3 budgets that held state spending to 2% or below;
  • The elimination of automatic inflators that previously accounted for unsustainable increases in Medicaid and education spending;
  • Tier VI pension reform that will save taxpayers an estimated $80 billion over the next thirty years;
  • A state labor force reduced from 137,000 to 120,000;
  • Three responsible state labor contracts that will save taxpayers $450 million.
For too long New York's reputation as a high tax state has been driving businesses and families away -- this new commission will build on the fiscal reforms of the past three years to identify new strategies to deliver tax relief to homeowners, renters, and businesses alike.
By reducing burdensome taxes, we our making our state more competitive and fueling economic growth; New York is rising once again.
Sincerely,
The Office of the Governor
