NYS Gaming Commission Announces March 30 Public Hearing on Charitable Gaming in Hempstead
Event to gather input from charitable organizations on additional improvements to New York charitable gaming laws & regulations
The New York State Gaming Commission today announced the next in a series of public hearings to provide charitable organizations an opportunity to address regulators on ideas to make fundraising through legal gaming easier. The goal of the hearing is to identify ways to further help charitable organizations raise more funds for their worthwhile causes. The public hearing will take place:
Thursday, March 30, 2017 at 5 p.m.
Hempstead Public Library
115 Nichols Court
Hempstead, NY 11550
Last month, Governor Andrew M. Cuomo announced proposals to modernize charitable gaming rules and support non-profits across New York. These hearings seek to build upon the Governor’s measures, giving leaders of impacted organizations an opportunity to discuss additional challenges and make recommendations to the Commission’s Charitable Gaming Division staff.
The event is open to the public and the press.
The event will seek testimony from various groups, including veterans’ organizations such as The Veterans of Foreign Wars, The American Legion and Disabled American Veterans; fraternal and service organizations including the Loyal Order of Moose, Fraternal Order of Eagles, and the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks; and churches, volunteer fire departments and other non-profits that raise funds for their organizations via gaming.
More hearings in regions across the state will be announced in the near future.
