We need a Governor who can read and write and read NY Const. Art 1, Sec. 3 and ask Attorney General for a FREE OPINION. Even Cardinal Timothy Dolan could whisper in his parishioners ear that not all New Yorkers are Roman Catholic and some Greeks Vote and Some Greeks Bet and some Greeks do one or the other or neither, and it is pompous, arrogant, and rude or worse to close Nassau OTB only Roman Catholic Easter and Roman Catholic Palm Sunday and not Greek Orthodox Easter and Greek Orthodox Palm Sunday.
ALL OTB should be open 365 days of the year before they succumb to NYC OTB disease. Bankruptcy.

Dear Fellow New Yorker, Long Islanders know that they have paid some of the highest property taxes in the nation. With this in mind, last year Governor Cuomo worked to pass the first-ever property tax cap in New York State. Less than one year later, the Governor's tax cap is already paying off for Long Islanders. Newsday reports today that “Efforts to curb local property taxes are having a dramatic effect on Long Island, with state figures released Thursday showing the lowest proposed school district tax hikes in more than 15 years.” “The increase is the lowest since all districts began holding same-day budget votes in 1996… Both spending and tax figures remain below the inflation rate.” According to the State Education Department, well over 90% of school districts statewide will not exceed the cap. Newsday reports, “Fiscal experts said schools' proposals for lower tax growth were fueled both by the imposition of the new cap and extra state financial aid to districts next year averaging 4 percent. The measures were negotiated by Cuomo and state lawmakers with strong bipartisan support.” Likewise, 83% of local governments have reported that they have also complied with the tax cap, bringing real relief to New York homeowners and businesses. Click here to learn more about the Governor’s historic property tax cap. Together, we are protecting taxpayers and making our state more attractive for businesses once again. Thank you for helping us build a new New York, The Office of the Governor | |
