Dear Grand Marshall, please come to the Nassau OTB Franklin

Square Branch and meet the Greek Bettors who are outraged that their rights secured by NY Const. Art. 1, Sec. 3 have been violated by Nassau OTB closing only on Roman Catholic Palm Sunday and Roman Catholic Easter Sunday. It is not too late to help us see that Nassau OTB is open without religious preference.

Thank you in advance for your prompt attention to this matter.  We came to New Jersey to bet on Sunday April 1, 2012 because our preferred betting location slammed the door in our face. Is it any wonder that OTBs in NY have gone (NYC) and are going (Suffolk OTB) BANKRUPT!

You would think that the Unions Teamsters Local 707 and Teamsters Local 237 representing Nassau and Suffolk OTBs would be glad to see that their members had the freedom to chose whether to work or take vacation. In Nassau you are paid time and a half for working on any Sunday and straight time for taking vacation. Better to have the choice to work or not now before your OTB goes bankrupt or dies in bankruptcy court?

MYFOXNY.COM - Thousands of spectators displayed blue and white colors and lined Fifth Avenue for the annual Greek Independence Day Parade.

The parade was televised on our sister station My 9 and was hosted by FOX 5 News anchor Ernie Anastos along with meteorologist Nick Gregory and Good Day New York’s Jill Nicolini.

Colorful floats and various bands marched up Fifth Avenue to help celebrate the 191st anniversary of Greek Independence after 400 years of Turkish Ottoman rule on March 25, 1821.

This marked the 74th year the parade route has marched up Fifth Avenue.

The Grand Marshall for the parade was Senator Bob Menendez (D-NJ) in recognition of his support of Greek national causes. Mayor Michael Bloomberg and other political leaders took part in the parade.

The theme for this year’s parade was “Solidarity with Greece.”
